University of Michigan moves up law school rankings; MSU, Wayne make list for first time

Michigan\'s law schools moved up or placed for the first time among the best nationwide, while holding ground among their counterparts on tuition, in the 2011 Best Law Schools ranking by U.S. News and World Report. Wayne State University's Law School made the U.S. News list for the first time - at No. 121. Traditionally, U.S. News listed only the top 100 schools by competitive rank, grouping other schools within its survey into unranked third and fourth tiers. This year the ranking extends to 145 schools, with a second tier of 45 schools listed alphabetically but unranked. In past surveys, Wayne State and Michigan State University were unranked \"third tier\" law schools. For out-of-state tuition, WSU and Michigan State were cheaper than half or more of the schools that came close to their competitive rankings.
